The stick must be made of a hard wood; it must be balanced for walking and, even though it needs to be heavy for use as a weapon, it also must be light enough to carry, sturdy enough to hold the weight of its companion and as beautiful as nature will allow - the best stick becomes a story of a life...
Growing up as a child in the vast grasslands and mountains found in Wyoming, we spent a lot of time exploring the creeks, cottonwood groves and ravines filled with the gnarled Rocky Mountain Juniper trees we called Cedars. Their blood red core and rich woodsy scent made them my favorite! I started collecting twisted branches that became my walking companions. As I grew up, my love for the sticks grew even more. It seems each one had a lesson for me to learn.
I started adding "pieces" to the sticks and experimenting with other beautiful woods. I began understanding each one somehow became a symbol of the life of those I made them for. Each stick is hand-picked for it's companion and each added piece is a memento from their life to become a "walking" life's story! These are:
THE STORY STICKS.
Now, we build a line of "story sticks" made exclusively for Veterans and Service Members, celebrating their most important personal milestones; given with much gratitude for their sacrifice to service. These sticks are known simply as,
THE WARRIOR STICKS.
